The latest Ski and Snowboard films all have one thing in common: a killer soundtrack that gets everyone pumped to ride! But you don't have to be a professional to have music that gets you in the "Mountain mood" as you're killing it on the slopes! That's why Maggie and I wanted to share some of our favorite songs and artists that you can always find on our riding playlists. Just listening to these songs make me so ready to hit the slopes as Mt. Hood is looking sexy with its recent fresh blanket of snow. I hope you enjoy and find a track to add to your repertoire. Can't wait to shred with these blasting in my ear!
The Reckoning Song: Asaf Avidan & The Mojos
The Reckoning album was released from the Israeli band back in 2008, blending the perfect mix of rock, folk and blues. Maggie and I re-fell in love with this song as it was featured on the documentary "Crash Reel" which you can get the full details on from Maggie's latest post. This song is perfect for creating those smooth lines in the back country...BUT make sure you where a helmet!
Check out this Wankelmut remix after you give the original a listen:

Gooey: Glass Animals
Check out this Indie rock band from oxford releasing their debut album Zaba in June 2014. Their lyrics are smooth, a bit sensual, and nothing shy of pristine for riding. Imagine yourself on that highest run overlooking the landscape as you listen....I do.
Or this Zodiac Remix of Black Mambo
The Unfallen Kingdom: Gramatik
Let's dive into the electronic scene with some Gramatik from Slovenia. This song has everything you need from beginning, climax, to easy end. Whether you're hitting it hard in the park or cruisin down easy, this song is sure to get you motivated for more!
Wait: Kygo Remix (M83)
I've been a huge fan of the French band M83 for a while, but I've recently developed a love for Kygo, a fairly recent musician and remixer to come on the scene from Norway. His remixes have what I call "soundtrack to your life" qualities, and put it together with M83, you get a killer shredding song!
You: Atmosphere
Maggie has loved Atmosphere, the American hip-hop/rap group for ages, and largely thanks to this group that Maggie got her love for creating her own rap lyrics that I've gotten to enjoy! Atmosphere has those deep beats and solid instrumentals that provide fun energy to ride to! Check out "You", and if you like what you hear, give "Puppets" a listen.
I'm so Hood: DJ Kahled
Ok so this one's partially a joke....BUT since Mt. Hood is where I fell in love with riding, I always pay my respect to "my Hood" by starting the first lap with this song. Haters gonna hate.
Sail: AWOLNATION
If you have seen "The Art of Flight" then you know this song. The film gave rise to this classic riding song, and it has stuck throughout the world thanks to Red Bull Records. Lets just include the trailer to really bring home what I'm talking about.
Yeah....I think I need to watch this film again for the 10+ time....
Home By Now: Bombay Bicycle Club (Louis The Child Remix)
Bombay Bicycle club is a sweet indie rock band out of London, and this cool beat from Louis The Child gives this song a little more pep for a great ride. Be sure to check into some of Bombay's original stuff as well. Me Gusta!

Moonshiner: Punch Brothers
We're gonna slow things down with this one. Maggie has fallen in love with this song, and I approve! This bluegrass-ish band has undeniable smooth vibes. This is such a chill song for closing up your day on the mountain or relaxing in the lodge as the sun goes down after a hard day of riding. Maybe if you're lucky Maggie will post her rendition someday!
U2.
I'm closing up this post with the classics! Yes, I've had Bono fever for a while. U2 was the original "soundtrack to my life" music I fell in love with, all thanks to car rides up to Mt. Hood with my papa. Since years have past, I've still found a love for the classics as I ride, and I always will! P.S. if you're looking for you're own personal Bono in the Pacific Northwest, he plays at Dubh Linn gate in Whistler Village. The band's favorite drink is Corona w/ lime (don't ask how I know that). Buy them a couple, and put in your favorite U2 request. You won't be disappointed!
Hope you enjoyed the sounds, and even if these tracks aren't your style for riding, please share below your favorites! Let's build the best winter soundtrack for this upcoming season.
